Our Mission

Decolonise Africa Hydro Seeding exists to reverse the degradation of African landscapes. Colonial agricultural models, overgrazing, mining and climate pressure have left vast areas of the continent bare and unproductive. We believe that healing the land is a foundational act of decolonization.

Using modern hydro seeding technology combined with carefully selected indigenous and climate-adapted seed mixes, we help communities, farmers, governments and private landowners rapidly establish protective vegetation cover. This reduces erosion, rebuilds soil organic matter, improves water retention and creates the conditions for long-term ecological and agricultural recovery.

What is Hydro Seeding?

Hydro seeding (also called hydraulic mulch seeding) is a planting process that sprays a slurry of seed, mulch, fertilizer, water and sometimes tackifiers onto the ground. The mulch holds moisture against the seed, protects it from birds and wind, and creates an ideal microenvironment for germination. It is especially effective on slopes, large areas and difficult soils where traditional seeding is slow or impractical.

Our Approach

  • Indigenous first — We prioritize native African grass and forb species that evolved with local climates and wildlife.
  • Soil health — Beyond seed, we supply organic fertilizers, biochar, microbial inoculants and amendments suited to African soil types.
  • Community partnership — Projects are designed with local knowledge and create skills and employment.
  • Transparent supply — Our online shop makes professional-grade hydro seeding materials available to contractors, NGOs and land managers across the continent.
